Do you need a separate sports account?

No. The sportsbook is one of the five categories in the Rainbet library, and it shares one account and one balance with the casino. A deposit is ready for a football bet or a game of Plinko the moment it's credited, and winnings from either land in the same place.

How do pre-match and live betting differ?

A pre-match bet is placed before an event starts, at a price that moves slowly. A live bet is placed while the event is on, at a price that moves with every goal, point or round. The sportsbook has a Live Matches section for events in progress and a My Bets section for your open and settled bets.

• Live reacts to what's happening, and prices can change between your tap and your bet being accepted.

How do decimal odds work?

Decimal odds show the total return for each unit staked, stake included. Odds of 2.50 return 2.50 for every 1 you bet: 1.50 of profit and your 1 back. Multiply your stake by the decimal price and you have the full payout.

What are singles and multiples?

A single is one selection, and it wins or loses on its own. A multiple combines two or more selections into one bet, and every selection has to win for it to pay. The odds multiply together, which is why multiples pay more and win far less often.

Each extra leg in a multiple carries its own margin. Long multiples are the most expensive bets in any sportsbook, even when the payout looks generous.

Do sports bets count in Rainbet races?

Yes. Sportsbook bets count three times over in the Weekly Race and the Monthly Race. The pools and periods are set out on Rainbet races.

What is the margin in a betting market?

The margin is the bookmaker's share, built into the prices. In a fair two-way market each side would be priced at 2.00. A sportsbook might price both at 1.90 instead, and the gap between the two is its margin.

You can see the margin by converting each price to a percentage and adding them up. A price of 1.90 is about 52.6%, and two of them come to about 105%. Anything over 100% is the margin, and it's why value matters more than picking winners.

How do you manage a betting budget?

A budget set before the first bet is easier to keep than one set after a loss.

• Set aside an amount for sports and treat it as spent.
• Keep each stake to a small, fixed share of that amount.
• Don't raise stakes to recover a losing day.
• Keep a simple record of bets, stakes and results. It shows what's really happening.

When is a bet settled?

A bet is settled once the official result is confirmed, and winnings are added to the same balance the stake came from. Settled and open bets are both listed under My Bets. If a match is postponed or abandoned, Rainbet's Sportsbook Rules decide what happens to the bet.

What should you check before placing a bet?

1. Read the market name carefully. Match result, handicap and totals are different bets on the same game.
2. Check whether the bet is pre-match or live, since live prices move.
3. Confirm the stake and the possible return on the bet slip before you submit.
4. Look in My Bets afterwards to see that the bet was accepted.
